Recycle Direct announces innovative new range of Smart Balers

Monday 07 August 2017

Recycle Direct are pleased and delighted to announce their award winning baler.

The RD Smart Baler does things a little bit differently. If you’re investing in a baling system, you’ll need a robust machine that allows for the growth of your business. The RD Smart, is a one of kind, with the ability to grow when your business grows, reducing the need to purchase a new machine each time your capacity increases.

The RD Smart Baler innovatively uses a ‘bolt-on’ system to increase the capacity and performance, allowing you to use the same machine whilst reducing costs and improving efficiency.

Designed and manufactured in Bridgend, South Wales by Recycle Direct, the new range of balers is an addition to their variety of recycling systems, along with their highly skilled team engineers with the ability to provide comprehensive servicing solutions.

Established in 1999, Recycle Direct was founded by two former service engineers, who had the ambition to provide reliable, fast and inexpensive spares and servicing to their customers.

The Smart baler can easily manage everything from plastics to RDF with a throughput capacity of 5 to 16 tonnes per hour. The RD60 base model weighs 23 tonnes, with the ability to produce bales of 750mm in height and 1100mm wide, and variable in length, 4 wire auto tyer, remote diagnostics and process data recording as standard. The RD Smart Baler is also able to add on those little extras, with the option of adding a bale wrapper, conveyor, refuse platen and a comprehensive service plan to ensure smooth operation around the clock.

Recycle Direct offer a full engineering service for the recycling sector with core business or servicing balers, compactors and conveyors. We also manufacture balers, conveyors, sorting platforms and storage bins.

Recycle Direct is proud to support Luke’s Long Walk Home

Wednesday 19 July 2017

Across the coming weekend, Luke Davies will be walking over 60 miles in 30 hours to raise awareness and funds for the work and research the British Heart Foundation does for congenital heart patients.

How do you cope when your loved one has an un-repairable heart defect? Even worse, when you’re told they need urgent open heart surgery. This became a reality for Luke Davies, when his partner, Amy, was told she needed to vital surgery on her heart in summer 2016.

Amy has a congenital heart condition (a heart problem you are born with), Aortic valve stenosis, which is an uncommon and serious type of congenital heart defect and accounts for around 5% of cases of congenital heart disease.

The condition means that the aortic valve cannot open fully and as a result, the valve needs to be repaired or replaced. This was Amy’s second open heart surgery and although the operation was successful, she will require future surgery and will be monitored by cardiologists for the rest of her life.

Luke commented: “Having to watch your loved one go through something like this was horrendous but I’m so proud of how well Amy has coped with the unexpected surgery and her recovery - which is why I would like to try and push myself to do this challenge. I know this trek is going to be tough but I just hope I can keep smiling throughout the walk – just like Amy did following her surgery and every day since!”

As part of Luke’s fundraising efforts, he’s also been trying to raise awareness of the work the British Heart Foundation does for congenital heart patients, after being shocked at some of the stats.

Each day 12 babies are diagnosed with a congenital heart defect in the UK and although the majority can be repaired at birth, there are many patients like Amy who will be monitored by cardiologists throughout their life. In the 1950’s, around 8 out of 10 babies with a complex congenital heart condition died before their first birthday. Today, thanks to advances in treatment and care (much of it funded by the BHF), 8 out of 10 live to be adults.

Luke commented: “It’s amazing to hear how much has changed for congenital heart patients, however, there is still a lot of research that needs to be done to ensure patients like Amy can continue to live as much of a normal life as possible. To do this, it’s important that people highlight the work that the BHF does and how vital their research is, which is why we’re really happy that Recycle Direct is helping to share our story.”

On Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd July, Luke will attempt and conquer the annual British Heart Foundation trek, which will see him walk 60 miles, in 30 hours, through the day and night from Glasgow to Edinburgh.

Everyone at Recycle Direct would like to wish Luke, good luck, and to stay safe on his walk.
