Choices, Choices, Choices?

What baler is suitable for my business

If you’re a company big or small, you’re more than likely generating waste.

Manufacturers, distributors, packaging companies, retailers, supermarkets and countless others generate tons of paper waste, along with plastic and general waste.

Balers could be a vital machine in sustaining your environmental policy. Like all purchases, you want to make sure you get value for money and a machine designed for your specific needs.

Types of Balers

There are two general types of balers: vertical and horizontal. The amount of material you bale each month determines the machine that's right for you.

Vertical balers have a smaller footprint. They usually stand about 1500 x 900 x 3650 (mm) has a large cylinder on the topmost of the machine.

Loading is done manually, compacted bales are then hand-tied (there are options for automatic tying) with wire before transport.

Horizontal baling machines are generally quite larger and take up a far greater footprint, ranging from 40 to 120-tonne capacities. Primarily used for larger quantities of waste. Machines can be feed manually, but more often than not, have a conveyor continuously feeding the hopper.

A horizontal baler compresses material with either a single or double ram. Horizontal balers come in various configurations, ranging from single ram semi-automatic to fully automatic double ram, with automatic tying.

We provide a solution to allow for upgrading your machine when your capacity increases.

Choosing a baler:

In order to choose the right baler for your needs you need to factor in:

  • Knowing the volume of materials you recycle each month.
  • Type of material to be bailed.
  • The usage of the machine, will it run 8 hours a day or 24 hours a day.
  • Available space.
  • Seek advice from and ask for a site visit.
  • Your budget.

Recycle Direct provide a vast array of baling machines from vertical to horizontal, we also manufacture, refurbish and service other recycling equipment from conveyors to shredders, shears and hoggers.
